CORTLAND - Chandra Kelley of Warren has been accepted as an Ohio State 4-H Ambassador.
Chandra, 15, is an eight-year 4-H member in the Animal Antics 4-H Club and the Trumbull County Shooting Sports Pioneers 4-H Club. She competed with 4-H members all across Ohio and was one of 48 from across the state to be selected.
"My future has been greatly affected by 4-H. Not only has it helped me decide what I want to do with my life, but 4-H has taught me skills to help me get there," she said. She hopes to become a professional photographer.
She is a daughter of Rick and Kim Kelley.
The Ohio State 4-H Ambassador program is designed to recognize 4-H teens who have achieved high standards of excellence in their 4-H program or project work, in community service and citizenship, and in leadership.
Selected 4-H ambassadors will be provided with opportunities and experiences to enhance their knowledge, skills, attitudes and aspirations in leadership, citizenship and service, communications and public relations, scholarship and related areas of interest and need.
The 4-H Ambassador program also lets teens serve as 4-H spokespeople and to update elected and appointed government officials, the press, state associations, donor groups, civic groups, parents, volunteers and others on 4-H developments. As a 4-H ambassador, Chandra will be involved with local and state commitments such as Ohio 4-H Teen Conference, Ohio State Fair and various 4-H leadership camps through out the state.
