OSU recruit headlines Northeast Lakes all-stars

COLUMBUS (AP) -- David Lighty, a member of Ohio State's incoming recruiting class who averaged 20 points for Cleveland Villa Angela-Saint Joseph, was named Division III player of the year in the 2005-2006 Associated Press Northeast Lakes All-District awards announced Wednesday.
Lighty, a 6-foot-5 senior guard, was a first-team Associated Press All-Ohioan in each of the last two years and came back from a torn ACL suffered late last season.
Other award winners were: Dallas Lauderdale of Solon, a 6-foot-9 junior (21.0 points per game), and Adam May of Mentor, a 6-foot-8 senior (22.6), in Division I; Tyler Sparks of Olmsted Falls (6-4, junior, 21.4) and Joe Davis of Warrensville Heights (6-0, senior, 28.1) in Division II; and Jon Liggins of Cleveland Heights Lutheran East (5-8, senior, 20.8) and Eddie Days of Richmond Heights (6-1, senior, 22.4) in Division IV.
Everett Heard of Bedford and Bob Krizancic of Mentor were named coaches of the year in Division I. The Division II honorees were Scott Sharp of Bay Village Bay and Brad Ellis of Geneva. Rocky River Lutheran West coach Phil Argento was coach of the year in Division III, and Phil Schmook of Richmond Heights, Todd Klugh of Thompson Ledgemont and Roger McClinton of Lutheran East took the honors in Division IV.
Top girls player
The girls player of the year in Division I was Katie Mastrodonato of North Royalton, a 6-foot-1 senior who averaged 14.5 points. Other winners were: Haley Kapferer of Jefferson Area (6-3, junior, 22.2) in Division II; Carla Jacobs of South Euclid Regina (5-7, senior, 18.9), Chantel Lavender of Cleveland Central Catholic (6-4, junior, 20.7) and Rachele Fitz of Garfield Heights Trinity (6-1, senior, 24.0) in Division III; and Melanie Williams of Willoughby Andrews School (5-9, junior, 25.8) in Division IV.
