ODOT | Active and upcoming Ohio Department of Transportation District 4 representatives talked Tuesday about active and upcoming projects for 2006 for the district that includes Mahoning and Trumbull
Project total: $123.5 million
ACTIVE PROJECTS: $31.7 MILLION
State Route 45 in Ellsworth and Jackson townships: Resurfacing and culvert replacement from U.S. Route 224 to the Trumbull County line. Total cost is estimated at $1.8 million for the project, which started in September 2005 and is set for completion this summer.
Interstate 76, Milton Township: Resurfacing of I-76 from the Portage County line to just east of state Route 534. Project starts this spring and is slated for completion in fall 2006. Estimated cost is $1.8 million.
U.S. Route 422, Youngstown: Rehabilitation of six bridges on or over Route 422 near Youngstown State University. Bridges are on Wick, Fifth, Ford and Belmont avenues and Elm and Covington streets. Landscaping and bridge aesthetics to reflect YSU colors are included. Project started in December 2005 with completion expected in summer 2007. Project cost is $9.3 million.
Interstate 680, Youngstown: Rehabilitation of bridges on I-680 at Steel, Wayne Pyatt and Gibson streets, I-680 eastbound to the U.S. 62 northbound ramp and Shirley Avenue. The $8 million project started in August with completion targeted in summer 2007.
State Route 193, Youngstown: Replacement of the "blue bridge" on Route 193 over the Mahoning River started in March 2003 with a completion date of fall 2006. Cost is $10.8 million.
UPCOMING PROJECTS: $91.8 MILLION
State Route 46, Austintown: Widening and reconstruction of Route 46 to five lanes from New Road to Mahoning Avenue. Preliminary work started in January with completion set for fall 2007. Total project cost is $7.7 million.
U.S. Route 62, Canfield and Goshen townships: Preventative maintenance and safety improvements on Route 62 from just east of Canfield corporation line to just west of state Route 11. Replacement of Route 165, west of Routes 14 and 534. The contract is to be awarded in June with a fall 2006 completion date. Total cost is $1.2 million.
Interstate 80 (Meander Reservoir), Austintown: Widening of I-80 to six lanes from Ohio Turnpike to Route 46 and replacement and realignment of twin bridges over Meander. The $80 million project is set to start this spring and be completed in fall 2009.
U.S. Route 224, Poland Township: Resurfacing of Route 224 from Riverside Drive to the Pennsylvania line and reconstruction of the intersections of Route 224 and Struthers Road and Route 224 and Clingan Road. The contract for the estimated $2.9 million project is to be awarded this month with completion set for fall.

ACTIVE PROJECTS: $12.9 MILLION
State Route 5 and state Route 82, Warren, Cortland and Howland: Rehabilitation of nine bridges on or over Route 5 and Route 82 from Hoagland Corner to Warren-Sharon Road in Warren and from Routes 82 and 11 in Cortland. The $7.8 million project also includes replacement of the Route 82 bridge over Mosquito Creek. Project extends from Perkins-Jones Road to just north of Warren to Route 11 north of Cortland. It started in March 2005 with completion set for fall 2006.
Route 82, Howland: Construction of offset left turn lanes on Route 82, widening of Howland-Wilson Road to add left turn lanes, signal upgrade and skid resistant material on approaches. The $1.9 million project started in June 2005 with completion targeted for fall 2006.
U.S. Route 422, Warren: Rehabilitation and resurfacing of Route 422 from Route 169 to Ridge Road. Resurfacing of Route 45 from Route 422 to Summit Street also is included in the $758,000 project, which started this month and is expected to be completed in summer 2006.
State Route 534, Southington and Farmington townships: Reconstruction and realignment of four miles of Route 534 between state Routes 305 and 88. Also included is replacement of the bridge on 534 just north of County Line Turnpike Road. The $2.7 million project started in July 2005 and is set for completion in fall 2006.
UPCOMING PROJECTS:$11 MILLION
Route 534, Southington: Replacement of culverts on Route 534 between County Line Turnpike and Easterly roads. Cost is $523,000. The project is to start in April and be completed in fall 2006.
State Route 11, Vienna: Preventative maintenance on Route 11 from I-80 to the Vienna Township line. The contract for the estimated $825,000 project is to be awarded this month and work completed in the fall.
State Route 46, Mecca: Replacement of two culverts and repair of one culvert just south of Meacham Road and north of Route 88. Contract for the estimated $272,500 project is to be awarded this month with work to be completed this summer.
Interstate 80, Hubbard Township: Rehabilitation of Lewis-Siefert Road bridge over I-80, the Drummond Road bridge and the Route 304 bridge over I-80. Contract was awarded in January with completion set for fall. Estimated cost is $4.2 million.
State routes 193 and 609, Hartford, Fowler, Johnston and Vienna townships: Preventative maintenance on Route 193 from Route 82 to Route 5 in Fowler, Johnston and Vienna and on Route 609 in Hartford. The contract was awarded in February and the project is expected to be done this summer. Estimated cost is $810,000.
State Route 305, Bazetta, Champion, Fowler and Southington townships: Resurfacing of Route 305 from Route 534 to Route 7. Replacement of the bridge over Dead Branch Creek in Southington also is included. Contract is to be awarded in August with completion in the fall. Estimated cost is $4.1 million.
