Man faces charges of raping girlfriend

WARREN -- A Liberty man accused of hitting and raping his live-in girlfriend has been indicted on three counts of rape and one count of aggravated burglary.
Larvett Carlton, 34, of Green Acres Drive, was indicted Tuesday by a Trumbull County grand jury and is set to be arraigned Wednesday before Common Pleas Court Judge Peter Kontos.
If convicted, Carlton could be sentenced to 10 years in prison on each charge. He remains in Trumbull County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
Police said officers went to the Green Acres address Jan. 4.
The woman told officers that she had attempted to end the relationship with Carlton and that Carlton had became angry.
The woman said she took pills to calm down and fell asleep. When she awakened, Carlton was lying next to her. The woman, reports said, told officers Carlton removed her pants and forced her to have sex.
The woman refused to be taken to the hospital, reports said.
No information was available on the aggravated burglary charge.
