Cigarettes stolen from 2 area businesses

AUSTINTOWN -- Police are investigating two similar burglaries of township businesses this week.
An unidentified white male broke into a BP gas station at 3602 Mahoning Ave. and stole 14 cartons of cigarette Wednesday. Security tapes revealed that the man, dressed in blue jeans and a dark hoodie with the hood pulled over his head, broke the glass door with an unknown object and jumped over the counter, grabbing $566.50 worth of cigarettes, a police report states.
The tape also revealed a blue car, which police believe is either an Oldsmobile Cutlass or a Pontiac Grand Prix, driving around the back of the business and pulling up to a door at the time the crime was committed.
A similar crime was reported Monday at Cornersburg Beverage on 3625 Lynhaven Drive. An unknown number of cigarette cartons were stolen and the window was broken with a car jack, a police report states. The culprit left the car jack and a pair of sunglasses at the business.
Police found blood stains at both crime scenes and believe that whoever is responsible was cut while breaking in. The blood samples have been sent to a lab for tests. No arrests have been made.
