YOUNGSTOWN -- A fire at 266 E. Ravenwood Ave. about 12:30 p.m. Tuesday was deliberately set, said fire Capt. Alvin Ware. A firefighter who fell through a floor was treated at the scene, Ware said. He said neighbors have complained about the vacant two-story house being broken into by juveniles who used it as a hangout. Heat from flames damaged another vacant house next door, Ware said.
Construction to close sections of East Market
WARREN -- There will be traffic lane restrictions on East Market Street beginning Oct. 10 for construction of a pedestrian bridge. The bridge over the street will connect Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital's main building with an office building the hospital recently acquired across the street.
East Market will close for two days beginning Oct. 22 between Bonnie Brae and Laird avenues Northeast, then reopen with lane restrictions until about Dec. 1. The suggested detour will be via Genesee Avenue, Woodland Street and Laird Avenue.
Church opens pantry
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Metro Assembly of God, 2530 South Ave., will have a neighborhood food pantry distribution from 7 to 8:30 p.m. todayat the church.

NORTH LIMA -- South Range Board of Education has canceled its special meeting set for 7 a.m. Thursday.
Rib fest on South Sideto provide green areas
YOUNGSTOWN -- Oakhill Renaissance Place will have a rib fest from 3 to 8 p.m. Friday, at 345 Oak Hill Ave. The event is sponsored by the Oakhill Renaissance Place tenants, Oak Hill residents and the Southside Community Development Corp. All proceeds will be used for the creation of gardens and parks on Youngstown's South Side.
The after-school, family event will feature hot dogs, popcorn, ice cream and soft drinks, clowns and face painting. Music will be provided by SounDoctrine and Jamstrate, and there will be a talent contest in the style of the "American Idol" television show.
Anti-abortion gathering
WARREN -- Trumbull County's Life Chain 2005 will be from 2:30 to 3:30 p.m. Sunday. The 15th annual anti-abortion event will consist of people forming a human chain from Warren Plaza on Elm Road south to Warren G. Harding High School. Jim Earl, county coordinator for the event, said about 1,200 people will carry signs and stand in silent prayer. There are more than 900 Life Chains in the United States and Canada. Grant center orientationto be held at library
YOUNGSTOWN -- Representatives of nonprofit organizations are invited to attend an orientation on the Public Library of Youngstown and Mahoning County's grant center, a collection of resources for funding researchers. The event will be at 9:30 a.m. Oct. 5 at the main library, 305 Wick Ave. Reservations are required. This program is for organizations. No information is available to individuals seeking funds. Road closing Monday
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- South Neshannock Road will be closed to traffic from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday. The section from Virginia to Wise roads is slated for cross pipe replacement. A red arrow detour route will be posted by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.
Canoe cleanup day
SHARON, Pa. -- The Shenango River Watchers will have a canoe cleanup day at 9 a.m. Saturday at the canoe launch at Budd Street and the Freeway. Canoes will be available for members to borrow. Several people are needed to walk along the banks to clean up that area. Anyone interested in helping should call (724) 342-5453.
