Ohio Democratic Party has new spokesman

COLUMBUS -- With all the attention Ohio received nationally in last year's presidential election, Brian Rothenberg says he believes it's an exciting time to be a Democrat.
As the new spokesman for the Ohio Democratic Party, the Aurora, Ohio native says he hopes to have a role in party politics as the state heads into a gubernatorial election next year and develops into possibly a key state in the 2008 presidential contest.
& quot;I just think it's an exciting opportunity to not only make an impact in Ohio, but nationally, & quot; said Rothenberg, who was tapped Monday to be the state party's communications director.
The 39-year-old Rothenberg most recently coordinated the Ohio political program of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees from 2003 until this year.
Rothenberg, a suburban Columbus resident, was the press secretary for former Cleveland Mayor Mike White from 2000 to 2001 and had been the communications director for the Ohio Senate Democratic caucus from 1995 to 2000.
