Anti-nepotism proposal to get 2nd reading

Published: Sun, September 11, 2005 @ 12:00 a.m.

CANFIELD -- The Canfield school board will have a second public reading at its next meeting of a proposed policy that bans nepotism.
The meeting is set for Sept. 21 at 6:30 p.m., though that date may change, said board President Bruce Brocker.
The board had its first public reading Aug. 24 of the policy, which pertains to classified and professional employees.
The policy would prohibit the hiring of children, siblings, spouses, in-laws or dependents of a board orstaff member.
The policy doesn't affect current employees.
Brocker said the new policy will be in keeping with the district's own management approach, and is to maintain public trust and fiscal integrity.
He said the board is already following the policy, even though it is not yet official.
