POLICE CALLS
A summary of recent criminal activity in Girard:
Sept. 4
Auto theft: A man in the 500 block of East Broadway Avenue reported his car missing.
Sept. 5
Theft: A woman in the 30 block of West Second Street reported her son's mountain bike stolen from her yard.
Theft: A woman in the 300 block of Toledo Avenue discovered that a set of checks was missing and that one was cashed for $36.
Theft: An employee at Hiland Dairy, 722 N. Highland Ave., called police after a man fled with two cartons of cigarettes he hadn't paid for.
Sept. 6
Theft: A Cheyenne Drive man realized a handgun was missing from under his vehicle's driver's-side seat.
Aggravated menacing: An Elruth Court woman told police her soon-to-be former husband called on several occasions threatening to kill or harm her.
Assault: A Girard boy reported that, on his way to a soccer game at Tod Park, three juveniles assaulted him in a wooded area.
Theft: A woman in the 200 block of East Main Street discovered three bottles of pills missing from her purse.
