Only the top 10 drivers in the standings will be eligible to contend for the title in the last 10 races of the season. Just 62 points separate eighth-place Matt Kenseth from 13th-place Elliott Sadler. ... Dale Earnhardt Jr. officially was eliminated from championship contention after finishing 38th at California.Next race: Sylvania 300, Sept. 18, Loudon, N.H.

Schedule: Saturday, qualifying (Speed Channel, 7 a.m.); Sunday, race (Speed Channel, 7:30 a.m.).Track: Circuit of Spa-Francorchamps (road course, 4.329 miles).Race distance: 190.476 miles, 44 laps.Last year: Michael Schumacher clinched his seventh F1 championship at the Belgian Grand Prix despite not winning for just the second time in 14 races in 2004. Schumacher finished second behind Kimi Raikkonen, but still earned his fifth straight drivers' titleFast facts: Fernando Alonso could clinch the championship this weekend. Alonso holds a 27-point lead over Raikkonen with four races remaining. Wins are worth 10 points each. Next race: Brazilian Grand Prix, Sept. 25, Sao Paulo.

Schedule: Saturday, qualifying, 5:30 p.m.; Sunday, race (ABC, 1:30 p.m.).Track: Chicagoland Speedway (oval, 1.5 miles, 18 degrees banking in turns).Race distance: 300 miles, 200 laps.Last year: Adrian Fernandez won the Delphi Indy 300 in Joliet. The race featured a scary crash by Buddy Rice, who walked away unscathed despite his car skidding upside down along the track.Fast facts: Ryan Briscoe won his first career pole at Sonoma, but triggered a three-car crash during the race that also took out Helio Castroneves and Danica Patrick. ... Sam Hornish Jr. went out on the first lap at Sonoma with a broken gearbox and dropped from second to third in the point standings. Kanaan is now second, 79 points behind Wheldon with three races left.Next race: Watkins Glen Indy Grand Prix, Sept. 25, Watkins Glen, N.Y.
