Hermitage shoplifter gets prison term
MERCER, Pa. -- A Hermitage woman was sentenced to prison Wednesday for shoplifting.
Judge Christopher St. John of Mercer County Common Pleas Court sentenced Susan Murphy, 35, of Bolde Drive to 10 days to 23 months for misdemeanor retail theft.
Court documents state that on Feb. 12, she stole a DVD player and jewelry valued at a total of $267 from Kaufmann's, 3515 E. State St., Hermitage. She was given 10 days' credit for time served.
Randy Campbell, 44, of East State Street, Sharon, was sentenced to 95 days to 23 months in prison for burglary, then paroled and given credit for time served. He was ordered placed on probation for four years for the burglary and for misdemeanor theft from a motor vehicle.
According to court documents, on Jan. 29, he illegally entered a building on Cedar Avenue, Sharon. Then, on April 24, he stole a portable DVD player, DVD movie and a Walkman radio from a vehicle in the parking lot of Denny's Restaurant, 2079 E. State St., Hermitage.
Jason Wright, 19, of West Market Street, Mercer, was placed on two years' probation for stealing several items in July 2004, including four DVDs, four VHS movies, a compact disc, $20 cash and old coins from an apartment in West Middlesex.
