SOCCER Howland, Chagrin Falls end in 1-1 tie

CHAGRIN FALLS -- K.K. Carothers scored a goal on an assist from Molly Gerbasi with 19 minutes left in the game to pull Chagrin Falls into a 1-1 tie with Howland (3-0-1) Saturday in a girls high school soccer match.
Howland took a 1-0 lead in the first half on Megan Long's goal off an assist from Rachel Albani. Howland goalie Mellisa Airhart had 10 saves.
Chagrin Falls (0-2-1) goalie Kat Powers had eight saves.
JVs: Howland 1-0
Champion 3, Ursuline 3
CHAMPION -- Mariah Snyder scored three goals as the Irish battled to a tie on the road.
Brittany Bako scored two goals for Champion. Brittany Skeels added the other goal. Gina Calderon and Skeels had an assist apiece for the Golden Flashes (2-1-1).
Champion Goaltender Kelley Dillon had five saves. Jolanta Carkido had seven saves for Ursuline.
Boys
CHAMPION -- Sumit Kovoor scored the tie-breaking goal with 16 minutes left to give Howland a 2-1 win over Champion.
Eric Albani had the other goal for Howland (4-0). Josh Keul an assist and Paul Burley had seven saves.
Max Brugler had a goal and Rich Slama had two saves for Champion (1-3).
JVs: Howland 3-0.
