Gala evening to mark Stambaugh rededication

Festivities will include dinner and music by vocalists and the Symphony Orchestra.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The rededication of Stambaugh Concert Hall will be celebrated at a pre-concert dinner and dance to be sponsored by Stambaugh Pillars and the Youngstown Symphony Guild on Oct. 16 at the ballroom of Stambaugh Auditorium, 1000 Fifth Ave.
The festivities will begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception followed by dinner to be served at 6.
Beginning at 7:30 p.m., the Youngstown Symphony Orchestra, which played a series of concerts at Stambaugh in the mid-1930s, will return to present a concert under the direction of guest conductor Randall Fleischer.
Also featured will be vocals by Debbie Gravitte, Tony Award winner; Jodi Benson, the voice of Ariel in the animated film, "The Little Mermaid"; and Stephen R. Buntrock, who is performing in the role of the phantom in the Broadway production of "The Phantom of the Opera."
The trio will perform Broadway show tunes from "Flower Drum Song," "Cabaret," "Thoroughly Modern Millie," "Annie Get Your Gun," "Oklahoma!" and "The Phantom of the Opera." The orchestra will perform such numbers as the Hoedown from Copeland's "Rodeo," the overture from Bizet's "Carmen," and the "Blue Danube Waltz" by Strauss.
Dessert and dancing to light classical selections by the orchestra will follow the concert.
Patron reservations are $60 and include the dinner and concert. Grand patron reservations are $100 and include dinner and preferred concert seating.
