Two men to face murder charges
YOUNGSTOWN -- Jury selection is scheduled to begin Monday in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court for two city men charged with aggravated murder.
Stephan Breedlove, 20, and Glenn R. Scott, 21, are charged in the shooting death of James Revere, 16, of Saranac Avenue. Police reports said Revere died Nov. 23, 2003, in a car on Hayman Street on the city's North Side.
Breedlove and Scott face life imprisonment if convicted.
Breedlove is represented by Atty. Louis DeFabio and Scott is represented by Atty. Ted Macejko Jr. Trying the state's case will be assistant county prosecutors Tim Franken and Gina Buccino-Arnaut.
Judge Jack M. Durkin will preside over the case.
Franken said the case would probably take more than a week to try. He said the two men also face a potential five-year additional prison term for using a gun in the crime.
Franken said Revere was shot by people in a passing car and one of the defendants got out of the car and also shot him. State law requires the five-year penalty upon conviction because the death was caused by discharging a firearm from a motor vehicle.
A third man charged in the homicide, Keon L. Richardson, 20, of Youngstown, will have his trial later this summer. Richardson also faces the same punishments if convicted.
