Published: Wed, June 29, 2005 @ 12:00 a.m.

YOUNGSTOWN -- The YWCA of Youngstown was awarded a $5,000 Good Neighbor Grant from The Raymond John Wean Foundation to support its summer youth program.

YWCA will use the grant for weekly scholarships during its summer youth enrichment program.

The program is offered for boys and girls aged 6 to 12 at two locations: 25 W. Rayen Ave. and YWCA Discovery Place West, 2007 S. Schenley Ave., which serves Austintown and the West Side of Youngstown.

The program gives youth opportunities for development and education through character-building lessons, art, sports, games and computers.

The program also offers weekly field trips.

Priority for scholarships will be given to those families with financial need. To apply for a financial scholarship for the summer youth enrichment program, call the YWCA at (330) 746-6361.
