CORTLAND -- A new superintendent and a new principal were announced at Monday night's Lakeview Board of Education meeting.
The board named Fred Kunar principal of Lakeview High School, replacing Robert A. Wilson, who was appointed superintendent.
Both will begin their new jobs Aug. 1.
The board has been interviewing for a new principal of the middle school but has not filled the position.

The board also approved participation in the Virtual Learning Academy, an educational option between the Lakeview School District and the Trumbull County Educational Service Center. The academy is an Internet-based educational delivery system designed for pupils in grades 7-12. The board also authorized the school district's participation in the Trumbull Student Assistance Consortium (TSAC). This organization is funded by the Drug-Free Schools and Communities Act. The school district will receive the following as part of the consortium: training and staff development, prevention and intervention programs for pupils and parents, access to the TSAC video resource library and V/ATOD prevention materials.
The board also recognized pupils who participated in the 2005 English Festival Literary Competition. The group of seventh- and eighth-graders read seven books, took tests and participated in group discussions. The festival was held at Youngstown State University.
