Mason gets top award at council meeting

YOUNGSTOWN -- Russell W. Gillam Jr. of Struthers received the 2005 Meritorious Service Award at the Scottish Rite Ohio Council of Deliberation June 4 at the Youngstown Masonic Temple.

The award is given to only one member of the Valley of Youngstown annually.

Gillam is a member and past master of Argus Lodge 545 in Canfield. He is a past presiding officer of the York Rite Bodies in Youngstown and has been inducted into Ohio Priory 18, Knights of the York Cross of Honour. He is a member of Al Koran Shrine and Aut Mori Grotto and serves as worthy patron of Miriam Chapter 278, Order of the Eastern Star.

In the Scottish Rite, he is a past thrice potent master of Hiram Lodge of Perfection, and has served on many committees and in several degrees.

He is a member of First Federated Church in North Jackson and has served as deacon.
