Festival set for late July
YOUNGSTOWN -- The seventh annual Our Lady of Mount Carmel Festival is set for July 21 to 24 on the parish grounds. Last year's event drew more than 10,000 people to the downtown. Scheduled to perform this year are Don Felice from New York City, Tony Ieluzzi from Canada and the Italian show band Oro Puro, as well as 14 area bands. Two $1,000 scholarships to Youngstown State University will be presented at the annual kickoff breakfast. The festival committee is seeking boys and girls ages 6 to 9 for the Little Prince and Princess contest as well as contestants for the red and white wine-tasting contest and teams for the morra tournament. Father's Day car show
HERMITAGE, Pa. -- The Shenango Valley Antique Automobile Club of America is preparing for the 23rd annual Father's Day antique car show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. June 19. More than 700 antique cars and trucks will be shown along the half-mile of State Street, which will be closed for the show. This year's feature car is a 1961 Metropolitan convertible owned by Ethel Lilly of Hermitage. Development of the car was started by Nash in 1950, with production commencing in 1954. Also featured this year will be a locally owned, genuine 1850 Wells Fargo Overland Express stage coach. Spectator admission to the show is free. Center to host 2 dances
YOUNGSTOWN -- USA Dance will have two simultaneous dances from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. June 19 at the Orthodox Center, 1025 N. Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown. "Some Like It Hot --Some Don't" will offer smooth ballroom dances, waltz, fox trot, tango, quick step, Viennese waltz, Argentine tango plus country two-step and polkas upstairs. Also featured will be hot latin dances, including the rumba, bolero, cha cha, mambo, salsa, samba, merengue plus East Coast swing, hustle, and West Coast swing downstairs. The public is welcome. Cost is $10 per person.
Two free lessons will be offered during the night: waltz, sponsored by George Hawn, Ballroom with Style, and a tango, sponsored by Anita Converse, Cleveland, Akron Dance Studios & amp; The Cavana Ballroom.

Ukraine political exhibit
YOUNGSTOWN -- "Election of the President in Ukraine," an exhibition of political cartoons depicting the sweeping social and political changes in the Ukraine after the collapse of the Soviet Union, opened Friday at the McDonough Museum of Art at Youngstown State University and will remain through July 16. An opening reception is set for 6 to 8 p.m. June 17. The exhibit, by four Ukrainian illustrators, is sponsored by Creator/Cartoonists Rights Network.
