OLEY, Pa. (AP) -- Four high school students were suspended after a .357-caliber handgun was found in the ceiling of a locker room at a career center.
The weapon found in the Berks Career and Technology Center East campus in Oley Township had been stolen in a recent burglary in Exeter, officials said. Ammunition also taken in the burglary was found with the weapon, while a second gun, a .22-caliber handgun, was later found off campus.
The four Exeter High School students, whose names and ages were not released, were suspended after the gun was found on May 27.
One of the students planned to sell it to someone at the technology center, then stashed it when the buyer was not there, said Gerald P. Witmer Jr., assistant director of the technology center. But a student who noticed a ceiling tile was out of place discovered the gun and notified authorities.
"I think it's important to know there was no intent for anybody to do anybody harm in the school," Witmer said.
The length of the suspensions was not released. Oley police are investigating.
