TRUMBULL FINE ARTS COUNCIL Variety of entertainment events set for summer
WARREN -- The Fine Arts Council of Trumbull County has planned a series of events for Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays throughout the summer.
Thursdays will offer a free community concert series called Something TaDoo, at 7 p.m. at the Warren Community Amphitheatre, 303 Mahoning Avenue N.W. downtown, adjacent to Perkins Park and the Kinsman House. Fact Director Bobbie Brown said the series highlights these talented musicians from our area:
UThursday: Trilogy ('70s/'80s rock).
UJune 16: Rex Taneri Orchestra (oldies, polka, waltz).
UJune 23: Blues Crew (blues).
UJune 30: Psych (adult contemporary).
UJuly 7: Chasin' the Blues (traditional blues).
UJuly 14: Wayne Tomsic Combo (music of all nationalities).
UJuly 21: Youngstown Area Community Concert Band.
UJuly 28: Jim Frank Trio (swing, polka, waltz).
UAug. 4: Wildwood Express (bluegrass).
UAug. 11: The Mickey's (Celtic folk & amp; rock).
UAug. 25: Guys Without Ties (classic rock).
The perennial favorite, Noon In the Park, will make its comeback each Friday afternoon from noon to 1 p.m. on Courthouse Square, downtown, offering food vendors and this entertainment schedule:
UJune 10: Jeff Bremer and Friends.
UJune 17: Warren Junior Military Band.
UJune 24: Top Notes directed by Dr. John Vlad; Community Day In the Park with local nonprofit organizations offering information and education.
UJuly 1 : Guys without Ties.
UJuly 8: Terry Gale's Festival Band; Trumbull Art Gallery's Summerfest Children's Parade.
UJuly 15: Sugarfuzz Orchestra.
UJuly 22: Rose & amp; Thistle; Packard Car Show.
UJuly 29: Chalk on the Walk, with a magic show at 12:30 p.m.
UAug. 5: Norm Yannucci Orchestra; train display with Boy Scout Troop 28.
Family-fun activities, food and entertainment will be spotlighted at FACT's Saturday Night Specials, also at the amphitheater. Brown suggests that families come before the main performances at 7:30 p.m. so children can enjoy a variety of games and activities.
Ancient music and dance, Russian folk songs and bluegrass are just a sampling of these entertainment offerings:
UJune 11: Noon-7 p.m. -- Ladies Create for the Gate art show. Call (330) 399-1212 for information; 7:30 p.m. -- Eleni Kelakos: six feet of presence, passion and personality with an original acoustic guitar performance.
UJune 25: 4-7 p.m. -- Family fun activities; 7:30 p.m. -- American Indigena, ancient music and dance of the Mayan and Aztec civilizations, part of IMPACT (International Music and Performing Arts in Communities Tour).
UJuly 9: 4-7 p.m. -- Family fun activities; 7:30 p.m. -- Susan Werner, pianist & amp; composer, the Golden Age of Popular Song and the Great American Songbook.
UJuly 23: 4-7 p.m. -- Family fun activities; 7:30 p.m. -- Moscow Nights with Golden Gates; children from St. Petersburg, Russia, bringing traditional folk music, stories and rituals of Russia to the stage.
UAug. 20: 4-7 p.m. Family fun activities; 7:30 p.m. -- POST Comedy Theatre; the brilliant physical comedy of Robert Post in a one-man comedy feast.
UAug. 27: 4-7 p.m. Reelin' by the River, brought to you by the Mahoning River Consortia and Muskies Inc.; 7:30 p.m. -- Clear Fork; spirited traditional bluegrass music.
