Faculty Legacy Society

YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown State University is launching the Faculty Legacy Society to recognize faculty members who donate $25,000 or more to the university. Funds contributed by society members will be used to support a variety of activities such as professional lectures, faculty release time, scholarships and student travel to professional meetings. "Because the faculty is the best source of information regarding the needs of students, donors have complete flexibility in designing the gifts and designating their use," said Stephen Hanzely, a member of the society's steering committee and professor emeritus of physics and astronomy.

The man was arguing with his mother over a cell phone she had canceled when he grabbed her purse, breaking the straps. The man fled and was discovered hiding in bushes on Youngstown Road, police said. He refused officers' orders, and police released their dog and used pepper spray. The man was treated at Forum Health Trumbull Memorial Hospital for a dog bite and the pepper spray; he is being held in Trumbull County Jail with charges pending.
