Man faces charge of marijuana cultivation

YOUNGSTOWN -- A South Side man was cited after police received a report of someone throwing suspected marijuana plants out the rear window of a home.

According to a report, Leon Whatley, 32, of Cleveland Avenue became nervous when police went to the rear of his residence to investigate. While there, the report shows, officers found about 30 suspected marijuana plants sitting by a rear door.

Five of the plants were in the ground and the other 25 were in pots, the report continued.

Whatley was cited on a charge of cultivation of marijuana and released.
