Published: Sat, July 23, 2005 @ 12:00 a.m.

Laurel Kean and Mary Beth Zimmerman will both appear at the Aug. 22 outing.

SALEM -- LPGA professionals Laurel Kean and Mary Beth Zimmerman have confirmed their attendance for the Make-A-Wish Summer Charity golf outing Aug. 22 at Salem Hills Golf & amp; Country Club.

The event, a four-person scramble, is in its third year and is open to men and women, regardless of skill level.

Cost is $85, which includes a Continental breakfast, lunch and dinner. The event begins at 10 a.m. with a shotgun start.

The event will also feature team skins, several hole and on-course contests and a raffle.

"Last year, we had a hole-in-one worth $100,000," said Scott Austalosh, the event director.

Austalosh added last year's raffle grand prize was $1,000 worth of PING merchandise and other raffle prizes included autographed items donated by LPGA players and a hole flag signed by Arnold Palmer from his course in Latrobe, Pa.

Austalosh confirmed some of this year's items, courtesy of IMG, the largest sports management firm in the world, will be items autographed by Retief Goosen, Ben Curtis, David Duval and Charles Howell III.

Big names

Kean and Zimmerman will conduct a golf clinic in the morning, be available for group photos, and will participate on the par 3 holes to raise money for Make-A-Wish.

Additionally, several personalities from Clear Channel Radio, including Thomas John, Jeff Kelly, Jerry Mac and Dan Rivers, will be participating.

Some of the events sponsors are Sheely's, AP O'Horo, Coke, PING, Butler Wick, Clear Channel Radio and Bruster's Ice Cream.

The Make-A-Wish Foundation grants the wishes of children with life threatening medical conditions. In Northeast Ohio region alone 140 wishes were granted in the last fiscal year. Some of the wishes include meeting Mickey Mouse, golfing at Pebble Beach, and bedroom makeovers.

More than 80 percent of every dollar raised directly supports the wishes of these children. Currently there are more than 300 wishes pending on the waiting list.

Sponsorships for the Summer Charity Open are still available. Advertising rates begin at $25 and hole sponsorships are available for between $100 and $250.
