DJ Dance party

YOUNGSTOWN -- A DJ Dance, sponsored by Just Got To Dance, is set for Aug. 13 at the Maennerchor Club, 831 Mahoning Ave. A dance lesson will be provided from 7 to 8 p.m., followed by dance music from 8 to 11. Native funk/jazz band

YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown's original funk/jazz band, Soundoctrine, will perform at Bobby D's Pavilion on Midlothian Avenue today as part of the Flip Flop Fest, featuring 10 area bands. The event, which will aid area charities, runs from 1 to 11 p.m. Soundoctrine takes the stage at 6. Fest-goers are encouraged to wear flip-flop footwear and bring slightly worn clothing, toys and/or non-perishable food items to donate to New Castle Food & amp; Clothing Bank. Serbian Day Picnic

YOUNGSTOWN -- The 73rd annual Serbian Day Picnic will be at noon next Sunday, at Holy Trinity Serbian Orthodox Church, 53 Laird St. Entertainment will be provided by Libby's Tamburitzans from 12:30 to 3:30 p.m. and Velibor Drobnjak Orchestra from 4 to 9 p.m. Traditional food will be available, including chicken paprikash (beginning at 11:30), roasted lamb and pork, grilled cevap (sausage) dinners, homemade doughnuts and pastries. Tony Hawk tour stunt

CLEVELAND -- Tony Hawk's Boom Boom HuckJam, featuring a wide array of sports action, will be at Gund Arena on Wednesday. Besides stunts, the tour includes a pre-show family event featuring games, activities, and autograph sessions with athletes from the tour. The "Street Corner Village" will be located directly across the street from Gund Arena on Huron Road and will open at 4:30 p.m. before the start of the show at 7 p.m. The "village" will feature activities from Tony Hawk tour sponsors. BMX star Dennis McCoy and Freestyle Motocross rider Dustin Miller will sign autographs before the show. Gund Arena will be one of the 30 North American city tour stops. 'The Wasp' performance

YOUNGSTOWN -- Universal Cafe of First Unitarian Church will present "The Wasp," July 18, a dramatic performance of a one-act play of family life in the '50s, authored by Steve Martin and directed by Emily A. Clark. The cafe is located at 1105 Elm St., corner of Elm and Illinois, just north of Youngstown State University, across from Wick Park. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., program begins at 7. Cost is $3. Light refreshments will be available.

Tigger visits Cleveland

CLEVELAND -- Tigger, the bouncy friend of Winnie the Pooh, is bouncing into cities across the Midwest, including a stop in Cleveland July 20-21, to announce the all-new, interactive children's stage show, "Disney Live! Winnie the Pooh." For every ticket purchased in each of the five cities Tigger visits, Disney Live! will donate a ticket to a local children's charity, up to 200 tickets per market. 'Survivor' auditions

AURORA -- A casting call for the 13th installment of the "Survivor" reality show will be noon to 7 p.m. Thursday at Water Ski Stadium in Wildwater Kingdom. WOIO Channel 19 of Cleveland will tape auditions and send them to CBS for judging. Each applicant will have about two minutes on camera. Contestants are judged on their backgrounds, personalities and lifestyles. They must be at least 21, in excellent physical and mental health and willing to submit to a background check. Those auditioning must bring their completed application, a passport-sized photo and a copy of their driver's license. Applicants must have or be in the process of applying for a valid U.S. passport. Once contestants have auditioned, they will receive a full rebate for their purchased ticket to Geauga Lake & amp; Wildwater Kingdom.
