BASEBALL
BB Rooners -- is conducting tryouts for its fall and 2006 team for players ages 15-18. The team plays 70 games with trips to West Virginia, Tennessee, Penn State and Troy. For more information, contact Coach Rod Simmer at (724) 651-5817.
Kramer Fields in Youngstown -- will be where Mill Creek Junior Baseball will hold its 37th annual Chuck Acri Tournament from Monday-July 26. Age brackets for boys are 8-younger, 9-10 and 11-12. Columbiana Youth Baseball -- will hold its 19th Coach Pitch 7-8 year old tournament starting Wednesday. There will be a 20-team limit. For more information, call Barry at (330) 770-5135.
Beaver Local Fields -- is where East Liverpool Area Youth Baseball will stage a tournament from Friday-next Sunday. Age divisions are 9-10 and 11-12. Entry fee is $100 plus two baseballs. For more information, contact Steve Dawson at (330) 386-4658 or (330) 383-3259.
BASKETBALL
Glenwood Middle School in Boardman -- is where the Lady Spartans camp will be for girls in grades four-nine from Monday-Thursday from noon-3 p.m. Cost is $60. For more information, contact Ron Moschella at (330) 509-3988.
Wilmington High in New Wilmington -- is where Pittsburgh Lady Galaxy AAU team is conducting clinics on Mondays and Thursdays through Aug. 11 from 7-8:30 p.m. Clinics also are scheduled Saturday and Aug. 13 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Fee is $50. For more information, call (724) 964-1062.
FOOTBALL
Gibson Field on Gibson Avenue in Youngstown -- is where the Fighting Little Redmen will hold football and cheerleading registrations for ages 6-12 from 5:30-7 p.m. weekdays through Friday. A birth certificate is needed. For details, call Amy Cetor at (330) 793-9154 or e-mail Cetoryngstwn@aol.com.
Howland Township Park -- will hold football and cheerleading camps for ages 6-13 from Monday-Friday from 9 a.m.-noon. Boardman High Stadium -- is where the Boardman Spartan Football Camp will be from July 18-20 from 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for boys in grades four-nine. Cost is $50. Registration deadline is Thursday. Brochures are available in the Boardman High athletic office. For more information, call (330) 629-2521.
Westminster Presbyterian Church in Boardman -- is where the Youngstown District Football Officials Association will hold a training class for new football officials. The class will start July 19 and end Aug. 30 and run from 7-9:30 p.m. For more information, call Don Sabo at (330) 788-7110.
GOLF
Tamer Win Golf Course -- is where the ninth TW Junior girls golf tournament will be on Monday. Divisions are: ages 10-13, 9 holes; and 14-15 and 16-18, 18 holes. Entry fees are $12.50 for 9 holes and $20 for 18. For more details, call (330) 637-2881.
Tamer Win Golf Course -- is where the 20th TW Junior boys golf tournament is scheduled for Friday. Players ages 12-13 will play nine holes while players 14-15 and 16-18 will play 18 holes. Entry fees are $12.50 for 9 holes and $20 for 18. For more information, call (330) 637-2881.
Tamer Win Golf Course -- will sponsor a two-person amateur triple 6's six holes best ball-scotch-scramble tournament on Saturday. Both players tee off then alternate shots. Entry fees are $34 per man and $68 per team. For more details, call (330) 637-2881.
OFFICIATING
Volleyball training classes -- will begin on July 18. Those interested in becoming an official should contact Pat Gaia at (330) 793-4286.
RUNNING
Camp Fitch -- will be the site of the 28th Mike Garcia distance running camp from July 17-23 and July 24-30. For additional information and registration, call (330) 744-8411.
SOFTBALL
Silver Park in Alliance -- will be the site of a USSSA tournament for Class D & amp; E teams on Saturday. Entry fee for the double-elimination event is $145 plus sanction fee. To enter, call Floyd at (330) 823-2008.
VOLLEYBALL
Hubbard High School -- will be the site of the 26th annual Shenango Volleyball Camp for girls entering grades 8-12. Dates and times are Wednesday-Saturday and July 18-21 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. Area college and high school coaches and college players will instruct at the camp. Fitch High School -- is where Thunder Volleyball Club will have skills camps in July. Dates are July 18-21 for players ages 10-14 and July 25-28 for ages 15-17.
