SANDLOT BASEBALL Astro Falcons win Little b crown

Nate Wilson scored the winning run in the 8-7 win over R & amp;J Trucking.

STRUTHERS -- Nate Wilson scored the winning run on an infield single by Andy Onufrak, as Astro Falcons defeated R & amp;J Trucking 8-7 in nine innings to win the Class Little b championship Wednesday at Cene Park.

Astros scored six times in the first inning and had a 7-1 lead, before a five run sixth inning by R & amp;J Trucking sent the game into extra innings. All three games in the series were decided by one run.

Kolten Hoffman had three hits while DeJacimo and Cameron Konop added two each for Astro. Konop tossed a scoreless ninth for the win.

Matt Yarab had a pair of hits for R & amp;J, while Ed Rohan had a double.

R & amp;J 4, Astro 3

In a game that was suspended by rain Tuesday night, R & amp;J scored a run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Mark Carrocce singled in Steve McNeely with the winning run.

Lou Coppola pitched 51/3 innings for the win, allowing two runs. Matt Yarab and McNeely had two hits for R & amp;J.

Astro scored twice in the sixth to tie the game. A triple by Cameron Konop scored the first run and he scored on an error to tie the game. Andy Onufrak had a pair of hits for the Astros. Steve Schoenfeld went the first seven innings, allowing three runs (two earned) with a pair of strikeouts.

Class B

Livi Steel took advantage of five errors in the third inning by Wharmby Sports to score five runs and went on to win their first round playoff series with a 5-1 victory.

Livi, winning the series 2-1, will face top-seeded Astro Falcons in the best-of-three second round starting tonight at 8. Rondinelli Tuxedo plays Mink Financial in the other series, starting tonight at 6.

Scott Wildeson tossed a complete game four-hitter with nine strikeouts for Livi.

Marc Rossi had a pair of hits for the winners.

John Warren suffered the loss, as he went the first 22/3 innings allowing five runs, of which only one was earned.

Class AA

YOUNGSTOWN -- Bud's/DiCioccio Construction/East Side Civics went 2-1 in Bob Mingo's 4th of July Tournament.

In the first game, Bud's defeated Gibson/Governor Insurance, 12-1. Joe Marzano went all five innings, striking out nine while not allowing an earned run on only two hits.

Marzano hit his first home run of the year, doubled and drove in three runs. Jason Jablonski and Shane Davis each had two RBIs, while Adam Cox stole three bases and scored three times.

Mike Mascola picked up his first win of the season defeating Tri-County 12-5. Mascola allowed three earned runs,and scattered seven hits.

Marzano hit two more homers and drove in five runs, while Paul Kello added a solo homer, his first of the year. Jablonski had three hits and had two RBIs. Shane Davis had two stolen bases.

Ray Butler had two hits and Charlie Jaminet had two RBIs for Tri-County.
