Officer faces peeping allegation

Published: Sat, July 2, 2005 @ 12:00 a.m.

BIRDSBORO, Pa. (AP) -- A police officer previously charged with possessing child pornography was arrested for allegedly peeping into a window at an apartment complex.

Robert L. Newth, 28, of Reiffton, was arrested Thursday night in the Antietam Arms Apartments in Pennside.

Newth has been on unpaid administrative leave from the Birdsboro Police Department since July 2004, when Berks County detectives charged him with having child pornography on his home computer. Those charges were upheld at a preliminary hearing in October.

Newth joined the Birdsboro department in February 2003.
