Course in child safety
BOARDMAN -- Those interested in becoming child passenger safety technicians can enroll in a certification class Aug. 15-18 at Beeghly Medical Park.
Class hours are 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The class will be held in Room 114 Building C of the medical park.
The course is available to nurses, EMTs, health educators, law enforcement, firefighters, day-care providers and drivers.
Fee for the course is $120 and includes all materials and meals.

Motorcyclists for Christ
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Warriors of the Son will hold the first Sport Bike Run on July 23.
The run is part of Warriors Inc., a motorcycle enthusiast group devoted to Jesus, coordinator Joe McGeorge said.
The run will begin at 10:30 a.m. at the HOPE Building, 2733 Market St. The rest of the route is undetermined, but McGeorge expects the ride to last two or three hours.
Food and music will be provided after the run for riders.
All bikes must be registered by July 18.
Registration fee is $10 per bike and $5 for additional riders. Proceeds will benefit a Back 2 School Bash, a motivational program for Youngstown youths planned for Aug. 19.

Officer memorial run
YOUNGSTOWN -- The third annual Our Fallen Officers memorial motorcycle run in memory of Youngstown Patrolman Michael T. Hartzell is July 10, rain or shine.
Participants can register at Jackson Elementary School, 1813 Windsor Ave., from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. that day.
The opening ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m., with the last motorcycle out at noon. Riders pay $15 and passengers pay $10. After the run, food, drinks, entertainment, drawings and prizes will be at Jolly Joe's Restaurant & amp; Sports Bar, 3718 Sheridan Road.
Hartzell was shot and killed in the line of duty April 29, 2003. His memory lives on through charity events that include a golf outing.
Christmas in July boats
CLARK, Pa. -- RC's Marina at the Shenango Reservoir will host its 23rd annual Christmas in July celebration July 23 to benefit the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
The event will feature a Chinese auction, raffle, music, dancing, fireworks and a visit from Santa Claus.
Organizers are asking boat owners to decorate their boats as if it were Christmas, and prizes will be given for the best decorations.

BOARDMAN -- The township will marks its bicentennial today with festivities at Boardman Township Park.
The day's activities include a softball tournament, food concessions, face painting and a bounce-around for the kids.
Jocko the Clown performs from noon to 3 p.m., "Blackwater" performs from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., old-fashioned games, including relays, a three-legged race and pie-eating contest are from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. "The Great Pretenders" perform from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. and the Youngstown Symphonic Band performs from 8 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Also, the community will greet Michael Notar, who has raised donations for the Matthew Fund by soliciting pledges for a walk from Columbus to Boardman.
Fireworks begin at 9:45 p.m.
2-car accident injures 2
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Two people were injured Friday in a two-car accident on a state Route 60 exit ramp in Chippewa Township.
Kevin Csuhia, 20, of Imperial, rammed his car into the back of a car driven by Bruno Medziuch, 77, of Beaver Falls, which was stopped for a traffic light at the Chippewa (Route 51) exit ramp, according to Pennsylvania State Police reports. The accident happened about 1:45 p.m.
Police said Csuhia fell asleep at the wheel.
Medziuch suffered minor injuries and a passenger, Emily Medziuch, 83, suffered moderate injuries, according to the report. All three were wearing seat belts, reports said.
Both cars suffered major damage, according to police reports.
