Concert series kicks off worldwide


Paul McCartney, top, and Will Smith, left, are among the big-name musicians taking the stage at Live 8 performances around the world. McCartney performed Saturday in Hyde Park, London, and Smith kicked off the festivities in Philadelphia. Live 8, named from the fact that world leaders will meet at the Group of Eight (G8) Summit to be held Wednesday through Friday in Scotland, was organized by Irish rocker Bob Geldof.
