Partnership to provide benefit information

COLUMBUS -- The Ohio Department of Insurance's Ohio Senior Health Insurance Information Program and the Ohio Association of Second Harvest Foodbanks recently announced a partnership that will provide information about the January 2006 Medicare drug coverage benefit.

The OASHF will distribute brochures regarding financial assistance and enrollment information about the Medicare benefit to charities such as soup kitchens, food pantries and homeless shelters.

"Too often in our food lines, we see Ohioans who have to make the impossible choice between putting food on the table and paying for medicine," said OASHF Executive Director Lisa Hamler-Fugitt. "This partnership will help begin to address some of these issues."
