Prevention Partners Plus honored by Ohio addiction services group
YOUNGSTOWN -- Prevention Partners Plus, a joint venture of Meridian Services Inc. and the Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic here, has been honored by the Ohio Department of Alcohol and Drug Addiction Services with an Exemplary Prevention Program Award.
Prevention Partners Plus was recognized as among Ohio's best in demonstrating a wide variety of effective violence-, alcohol-, tobacco- and other drug-prevention programs in diverse communities.
Six other programs in Clermont, Cuyahoga, Delaware, Hancock and Richland counties also were honored.
ODADAS Director Gary Q. Tester presented Prevention Partners Plus with a commemorative plaque in December at the 16th Annual Ohio Prevention and Education Conference in Columbus.
"The seven programs chosen for exemplary awards this year deserve the honor for the impact they are having statewide and in their communities," Tester said.
Meridian Services Inc. and the Neil Kennedy Recovery Clinic joined forces in 1994 to provide comprehensive, coordinated prevention services through the creation of Prevention Partners Plus.
The program provides lifelong violence-, alcohol-, tobacco- and other drug-prevention services to local communities and faith-based organizations, including every school district in Mahoning County.
