Second-half surge decisive for West Branch

CANTON -- West Branch High opened the second half with a 14-0 run and went on to defeat Canton South, 63-54, in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference boys basketball game Friday night.

Marc Carle led the Warriors (5-8, 4-6) with 18 points. Shane Young added 17 points and four rebounds. Andy Pappas had 11 points and six rebounds, and Mike Fugate had six assists.

West Branch was 10-for-14 at the foul line in the second half.

Cory Bourquin scored 17 points for South (6-6, 6-5), which led 31-26 at halftime. Antwon Ervin added 12 points and Nick Dean scored 11.

Farrell 66, Shenango 57

NEW CASTLE -- Domonique Blackwell scored 19 points and Bobby Wright had 17 for Farrell (14-3), which led 43-22 at halftime.

Steve McNees mad five 3-pointers for Shenango (15-3) and finished with 31 points and 10 rebounds.
