Rape suspect due in court

YOUNGSTOWN -- A Youngstown man was arrested Friday and charged with the rape of a 25-year-old pregnant woman last weekend.
David Hackett, 42, of West Chalmers Avenue, also known as "J Money," is being held in jail pending an arraignment Monday in municipal court.
The victim said she and her boyfriend, who were been staying at the Rescue Mission, accepted a ride from a man who called himself "J Money" after he saw them waiting for a bus Jan. 15. The couple said they had intended to go to a friend's home in Campbell to watch the Pittsburgh Steelers-New York Jets playoff game.
But while the boyfriend went into a store on McGuffey Road on the East Sideto buy cigarettes, the suspect drove off with the woman in the back seat. The victim told police that the suspect drove back toward the North Side and pulled behind a yellow brick building, where he forced her at knifepoint to have sex. The victim said she did not tell the rapist that she is 31/2 months pregnant, according to a police report.
The man then dropped her off on Phelps Street. A white Buick Regal that the rape victim described to police was impounded from the 100 block of West Chalmers Avenue later that night and held for detectives. Police found the woman's light blue overalls in the back seat.
Hackett was released on parole Nov. 5, 2002, from the Lorain Correctional Institution, after having served 23 years for aggravated murder and aggravated robbery, records show.
