Massillon Museum hosts Andy Meyer concert
Saxophone soloist Andy Meyer, a student at Youngstown State University, will perform at the Massillon Museum on Thursday, January 20, in the second concert of the Museum's new music series, "Rhythms."
The event begins at 7:30 p.m. with social time and refreshments. Meyer will perform at 8, followed by a casual reception. Cost is $5; no reservation needed.
The program will span several styles of music: baroque, tango, contemporary/modern, Japanese, and minimalist. Meyer will present an intriguing blend of familiar sounds and fresh pieces played on soprano, alto, and tenor sax.
The Jackson Township native has played with the Youngstown Symphony and currently performs with the YSU concert band, jazz ensemble, and saxophone quartet.
Massillonians best know Andy Meyer as the "street musician" at the three "Back Alley Blues" events and the inaugural "Bridjazz" event. He has taught private lessons on saxophone, flute, and clarinet.
The Massillon Museum is located at 121 Lincoln Way East, in downtown Massillon. Call (330) 833-4061 for more information.

How to pick up a guy

"At school, I got this boy's attention by "accidentally" sitting at his desk so I could talk to a friend. When he came back, I got up and let him sit down, then I just sat on his lap and kept on talking!" -- Jasmine, 15, Memphis, Tenn.
"When I meet a hot guy for the first time, I ask him to tell me when his birthday is -- I'm really into zodiac signs -- and then I tell him a little about himself. The sexy, educated side of me shows, and it makes him feel like I'm really interested in him. Guys love the ego boost." -- Jodi, 18, Everett, Wash.
