Massillon Museum hosts Andy Meyer concert
Saxophone soloist Andy Meyer, a student at Youngstown State University, will perform at the Massillon Museum on Thursday, January 20, in the second concert of the Museum's new music series, "Rhythms."
The event begins at 7:30 p.m. with social time and refreshments. Meyer will perform at 8, followed by a casual reception. Cost is $5; no reservation needed.
The program will span several styles of music: baroque, tango, contemporary/modern, Japanese, and minimalist. Meyer will present an intriguing blend of familiar sounds and fresh pieces played on soprano, alto, and tenor sax.
The Jackson Township native has played with the Youngstown Symphony and currently performs with the YSU concert band, jazz ensemble, and saxophone quartet.
Massillonians best know Andy Meyer as the "street musician" at the three "Back Alley Blues" events and the inaugural "Bridjazz" event. He has taught private lessons on saxophone, flute, and clarinet.
The Massillon Museum is located at 121 Lincoln Way East, in downtown Massillon. Call (330) 833-4061 for more information.

How to pick up a guy
"I use a perfume that smells like cotton candy when I know I am going near a guy I like. I smell good enough to eat -- they can't resist wanting a taste." -- Rachel, 17, Staten Island, N.Y.
"There is one move that I use that my friends call the Leg Move. Sit next to him, them lean over like you're tying your shoe or picking something up, and simply place your hand on his leg. You're sure to get his attention!" -- Courtney, 19, Phenix City, Ala.
"At school, I got this boy's attention by "accidentally" sitting at his desk so I could talk to a friend. When he came back, I got up and let him sit down, then I just sat on his lap and kept on talking!" -- Jasmine, 15, Memphis, Tenn.
"When I meet a hot guy for the first time, I ask him to tell me when his birthday is -- I'm really into zodiac signs -- and then I tell him a little about himself. The sexy, educated side of me shows, and it makes him feel like I'm really interested in him. Guys love the ego boost." -- Jodi, 18, Everett, Wash.
"I was in geometry class, and this girl asked to borrow a pencil. I didn't have an extra one, so I said no. Then the day before Christmas break, she handed me a gift. I ripped it open to find a pack of pencils, a sharpener and a note explaining her feelings for me. We started dating that night." -- Greg, 17, Hampton, Va.
