MAHONING TOWNSHIP Supervisors approve pay raises; center rental rates also go up
Supervisors also raised rates for renting the township Community Center.
HILLSVILLE, Pa. -- Mahoning Township supervisors have approved pay raises for township employees.
Road workers received a 45-cent-an-hour raise and will receive $12.90 an hour. Any new part-timers hired will be paid $9.
Township auditors approved the same raise for supervisor and roadmaster Poncho Exposito, who will make $15.95 hourly.
Other new wages include:
ULifeguards, $6.50 to 7.25 hourly.
UPool workers, $6 to $6.15 hourly.
UCode enforcement officer Jim Morris, $10 hourly.
USecretary Elaine Kielar, $730 per month.
UTreasurer Gil Lucarelli, $895 per month.
UIncome tax collector Ida Chiaro, $965 per month.
UPool director Ida Chiaro, $45 per day.
UCommunity Center director Cathy Stokes, $275 per month.
UReal estate tax collector Loretta Denney, 5 percent commission.
In other business at their recent meeting, supervisors appointed Allen Miller to fill Bill Wyza's unexpired term on the township planning commission.
Supervisors also raised rental rates for the Community Center by $25. This brings fees to $375 for the first floor, $575 for the first floor and basement, and $200 for the basement. A new small-party rate was set at $250 for parties of 75 or fewer people. The pavilion rates remain at $100 for the closed and $60 for the open pavilion.
Supervisors also agreed to obtain estimates on putting a new roof on the Edinburg Fire Station. The roof was damaged in a recent storm.
Exposito was named the supervisors' delegate to the Lawrence County Council of Governments and also to the State Association of Township Supervisors.
Supervisor Gary Pezzuolo was elected chairman, and Vito Yeropoli was named vice chairman for the coming year
