Suspect sought in woman's rape

YOUNGSTOWN -- A 34-year-old woman told police she was raped Saturday night by a man who asked her to buy him a pack of cigarettes at a convenience store on Belmont Avenue.
The woman, who is not from this area and lives at the Rescue Mission downtown, said the man gave her $4 to buy the cigarettes, saying he wasn't allowed in the store. He then asked her to sit in his car for a minute around 10 p.m.
The victim said the man drove to a wooded area, forced her to perform a sex act, threatened to shoot her and pulled hair from her head. He then pushed her out of the car. She was first seen by police on McGuffey Road, waving to get their attention.
The woman was taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center.
