Nero's 20 lifts Lowellville to two-point win

The Rockets trailed 43-37 after three quarters.

LOWELLVILLE -- Mario Nero scored 20 points, helping Lowellville High rally in the fourth quarter for a 58-56 win over South Range, in an Inter-County League boys basketball game on Friday night.

The Rockets (6-5, 2-2 ICL) trailed 43-37 entering the final period.

John Wilaj added 10 points for Lowellville, while freshman Jimmy Sudon, in his first varsity appearance, scored nine. Rocky Nolfi and Justin Smith had 10 and nine rebounds, respectively.

Brian Crawford led South Range (3-4, 0-3) with 14 points, while David Rach added 12.

Western Reserve 66,Jackson-Milton 38

BERLIN CENTER -- Chris Tofilski led four Blue Devils in double figures, scoring 14.

Brock Christie added 12 points for Western Reserve (4-7, 2-2 ICL), while Dave Ferrando scored 11 and Chris Truitt 10. Clay Jones had eight rebounds for the Blue Devils and Truitt had four assists.

Josh Rybak led Jackson-Milton (5-5, 1-2) with 15 points.

Youngstown Christian 58,Fairport Harbor 29

YOUNGSTOWN -- Aaron Agresta scored 15 points, while Dominic Vitullo added 14 for Youngstown Christian (4-5, 2-2) in an East Suburban Conference game.

Anthony Lagamba finished with 10 points and three steals for the Eagles, while Jared Van Arsdale had nine rebounds and three assists, Sal Mineo had seven rebounds, and Kory Cooper had three assists.

Jesse Yano scored 12 points for Fairport Harbor.

LaBrae 55, Newton Falls 44

NEWTON FALLS -- Jason Fredericks scored 24 points as LaBrae won for its seventh time in eight games.

Kyle Rowan added 11 points for the Vikings (2-0 Trumbull Athletic Conference).

Medallin scored 19 points for Newton Falls (3-5, 0-2) and Troy Balint scored 10.

Lakeview 69, Hubbard 40

CORTLAND -- Alex Koltsov recorded a double-double to lead Lakeview.

Koltsov finished with 11 points and 11 rebounds for the Bulldogs (7-1, 2-0 TAC). He also had five assists. Mike Frangiamore and Dustin Opalka added 10 points each for Lakeview.

Hubbard (1-6, 0-2) was led by Marc Kanetsky, who scored 11 points.

Liberty 62, Girard 44

LIBERTY -- Brandon Cornwell scored 18 points and Edward Kershaw was right behind with 17, to lead Liberty (5-3, 2-0 TAC).

Chris Harrison scored 11 points for the Leopards and John Humphrey had 10 rebounds, four assists and three steals. Donovan Fletcher had six assists.

Girard (2-6, 1-1) was led by Eric Stevens' 19 points, while Nick Cretella added 12. David Culp had 12 rebounds.

Maplewood 67, Bristol 58

CORTLAND -- Jake Abbott scored 26 points and Dan Morrison added 23 for Maplewood (4-4, 3-0) in a Northeastern Athletic Conference game.

Abbott also had seven steals and six assists for the Rockets, while Morrison had six steals and six assists. Doug Wajda and Morrison both added seven rebounds.

Matt Hinkle scored 17 points and Richard Benchia chipped in 16 for Bristol (5-4, 3-1).

West Branch 59, Marlington 55

ALLIANCE -- Marc Carle finished with 19 points, while Brandon McMillen added 10 points and nine rebounds for the Warriors (2-8, 1-6 Northeastern Buckeye Conference).

Jared Hoffman added eight rebounds and Andy Pappas had five assists for West Branch.

Mike Stanek scored 16 points to lead Marlington (4-9, 3-5).

Farrell 85, Summit Academy 56

PITTSBURGH -- Ramone Williams tossed in 20 points to lead Farrell.

Bobby Wright and Phillip Pinkins added 15 each for the Steelers (10-2), while Domonique Blackwell scored 11.

Shenango 81, Neshannock 60

NEW CASTLE -- Steve McNees scored 33 points to lead Shenango.

McNees also had 11 assists, eight rebounds and three steals. Shawn DeJohn added 19 points, seven rebounds and three assists, while Ryan Graton had 14 points.

Neshannock was led by Mike Kokel with 20 points.
