MCDONOUGH Pupils' artwork goes on display
YOUNGSTOWN -- The artwork of seven area pupils has been selected for display on billboards in the area, officials of the McDonough Museum announced.
The museum sponsors the billboard competition as part of the annual Scholastic Art Awards.
The pupils whose work will be featured on billboards and the schools they attend are: Jeremy Aponte from Choffin Career Center; Mark Bush, Niles McKinley High School; Justine Cowatch, Beaver Local High School; Paonessa Hamlett, Hillman Middle School; Jason Newman, Liberty High School; Shannon Stewart, Salem High School; and Christian Wong, Boardman High School.
The artwork will be on billboards from Jan. 15 through Feb. 11 at the following locations:
U 4195 Mahoning Ave. at Adgate Florist in Austintown.
U 8065 Market St. near Eat 'n Park in Boardman.
U State Route 4 in Washingtonville.
U 1725 N. State St. (U.S. Route 422) in Girard.
U 1717 Youngstown Road in Warren.
U State Route 46 and Silica Road intersection in Austintown.
U State Route 170 at Calcutta Auto Parts in Calcutta.
All original billboard submissions for the competition will be on exhibit at the McDonough Museum from Jan. 22 to Feb. 11.
XThe McDonough Museum of Art is on the campus of Youngstown State University. Hours are Tuesday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The museum is open to the public and admission is free.
