GIRLS BASKETBALL ROUNDUP Chaney defeats Mineral Ridge as Faison records double-double
YOUNGSTOWN -- Kayla Griffin scored 12 points and Quiana Faison added 10 points, leading Chaney High to a 42-28 victory over Mineral Ridge in a non-conference girls basketball game on Saturday.
Faison also had 14 rebounds for the Cowgirls (7-4). Courtney Williams and and Tieara Jones had five steals each for Chaney, which led 22-10 at halftime.
Rachel Siler scored 10 points to pace Mineral Ridge (2-10).
Boardman 46, Canton McKinley 33
BOARDMAN -- Jessica Moore tossed in 16 points, including eight in the first quarter as Boardman took control.
Colleen Mallis added 13 points for the Spartans (9-1, 5-0 Federal League). All four of Mallis' field goals were 3-pointers.
Canton McKinley (8-3, 4-1) was led by Britteny Tuel's nine points.
North Canton 71, Fitch 20
NORTH CANTON -- Brittany Orban scored 17 points to lead North Canton in a Federal League game.
Annie Montgomery and Sahar Nusseibeh added 10 points apiece for the Vikings (9-3, 4-1), who led 18-2 after the first quarter.
Alexis Hall scored eight points to lead Austintown Fitch (5-5, 2-3), while Krista Mays added five.
Mathews 64,Youngstown Christian 37
YOUNGSTOWN -- Tara Ford tossed in 21 points as Mathews improved to 10-1.
Melissa Morrison added 15 points for the Mustangs, while Melanie Roscoe finished with 15 points and 14 rebounds. Sarah King had four assists.
Youngstown Christian (4-7) was led by Kara Pecchia's 14 points.
