BASEBALL

Warren McKinley Baseball and Softball will host winter clinics for 6- to 12-year-old baseball players and 7- to 14-year-old girl softball players at East Middle School, 1470 South Street SE. The 6- to 8-year-olds baseball clinic will be held at 5:30 and 7 p.m. today, Feb. 23, 25. The 9- to 12-year-old girls softball clinic will be held Feb. 19. Times are 1-3 p.m. for 7- to 10-year-olds and 3-5 p.m. for 11- to 14-year-olds. All clinics cost $25. Register online at www.warrenmckinleybaseball.com or call (330) 392-0501.

Howland Athletic Club will hold registration for baseball and softball Thursday from 6:30-8:30 at the H.C. Mines Elementary School for children 5 and older. Registration will also be held Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and on Feb. 23 and Feb. 26. For information call (330) 856-7624.

Girard Baseball and Softball will conduct tryouts at the Girard Free Library, Saturday, Feb. 19 and 26 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Boys, ages 5-17, all leagues, call Randy at (330) 545-9636 or Jamie at (330) 545-0813. Girls, slow pitch, 8-12, fast pitch, 11-12 and 13-14, call Craig at (330) 545-3834.

Little Scrappers Baseball tryouts for players age 9-10 will be held on Saturday, Feb. 19 from Noon until 2 p.m. at All-Star Sports Baseball Academy, 8075 Southern Blvd., Boardman. This a new travel team playing local All-Star teams and tournaments in the Akron-Canton-Medina area. Please bring birth certificates. Players throughout the Mahoning Valley are welcome. The McDonald Baseball Association will hold registration in the senior citizens building, located at the corner of Ohio Ave. and Fifth Street on Saturday, Feb. 19 from 2-5 p.m.; Saturday, Feb. 26 from 2-5 p.m.; and Saturday, March 5, from noon-3 p.m.

Vienna Athletic Club will hold registration for summer baseball and softball for boys and girls age 6-17 on Feb. 19 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Vienna Fire Station. For information, call Roseann Kennedy at (330) 394-2188.

Struthers Baseball League signups for the 2005 season will be held Feb. 19 and Feb. 20 from 1-5 p.m. at St. Nicholas Church Basement Hall. Birth certificate and family doctor's name and phone number are required. All returning and/or new players must register to be eligible. Baseball Factory will offer a Video Scouting Session for top 2005-07 graduates at the indoor facility at the University of Akron on Feb. 19. On-field activities will begin at 9 a.m. Players must register prior to the event. Attendance is limited at each session. Brookfield Youth Little League Inc. will hold baseball and softball registration for boys and girls age 5-16 at the Brookfield Fire Station on State Route 7, front meeting room. Registration is from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 26; 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, March 5; 1-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 6. Copy of birth certificate must be present at time of registration for new signups. Challenger Division baseball registration for special needs children from all of Trumbull (OH) and Mercer (PA) counties will be held beginning Feb. 26. Registration will be held on Saturday, Feb. 26 from 1-5 p.m.; Saturday, March 5 from 1-5 p.m.; and Sunday, March 6, from 1-5 p.m. at the Brookfield Fire Station on State Route 7, front meeting room. BASKETBALL

Varsity Club in Canal Fulton, will be conducting the following tournaments: Spring Fling, March 1-7, deadline Feb. 20, last school/church teams only tournament of the season; Easter Tip-Off, March 25-26, AAU/travel teams; Great Lakes girls, April 22-24, AAU/travel teams, national qualifier; Great Lakes boys, April 29-May 1, AAU/travel teams, national qualifier; Canton Cage Classic, May 13-15, AAU/travel teams; Highland Hoopfest, May 20-22; 1 day shootouts, $99, 4-5 games in 1 day, all grade levels. Massillion Parks and Recreation Department is taking registrations for its 4th and 5th grade basketball tournaments at the Massillion Recreation Center. All teams guaranteed three games. FOOTBALL

The Tri-County Pop Warner League will hold an informational meeting on Saturday, Feb. 19 at the McDonald's, 586 E. Main Street, Canfield. HIGH SCHOOLS

Waterloo High is looking for a boys soccer game and a girls varsity volleyball game for the 2005 fall season. Contact athletic director John Herchek at (330) 947-2124.

The McDonald Sideliners will be holding their monthly meeting, Sunday, Feb. 20 at 7 p.m. in the high school weight room. Anyone interested in becoming a member for the upcoming 2005 football season is welcome.

Head football coach needed for Upper Arlington High, Columbus. Applications are being accepted until Tuesday, March 1 at 4 p.m. Applicants should send a letter of interest, including areas of teaching certification, resume, and references to Chris Potts, Director of Athletics, Upper Arlington High, 1650 Ridgeview Road, Columbus, Ohio 43221-2997.

Ursuline boys soccer will sponsor a spaghetti dinner and Chinese auction on Feb. 20 from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Hall in Youngstown. Cost is $6 for adults and $4 for children under 12.

SOFTBALL

Mount Union College softball team will host a pitcher/catcher and fielding clinic Feb. 20 from 1-4 p.m. inside the Timken Physical Education Building. A $35 registration fee is required before Feb. 9. Late registration is $40. If both clinics are attended the fee is $30 per clinic. For information, contact coach Sandy Douglas at (330) 823-4479.
