CHASE Police officer, woman recovering after crash

Published: Tue, February 8, 2005 @ 12:00 a.m.

Police say the suspect in Monday evening incident is still at large.

YOUNGSTOWN -- Two people, including a city police officer, were in stable condition Monday evening recovering from a two-car wreck during a police chase of a third vehicle.

Patrolman Bill Ward, who was pursuing the vehicle, and Karen D. Adams, of Lansdowne Boulevard, were taken to St. Elizabeth Health Center after the crash at Lansdowne and McGuffey Road Sunday afternoon. The cruiser slammed into a utility pole.

The suspect remains at large.

The chase originated in Pulaski Township, Pa., where the suspect pushed a Pulaski officer during a traffic stop and then sped away, according to police.

Detective Sgt. Rick Hart, an accident investigator, said a North Side man told police that his wallet was stolen a month ago and his identification in the wallet was used to register the car being pursued by officers. It was described as a green Honda.

Hart said the Sunday collision will not lead to citations.
