Bestform building bought
JOHNSTOWN, Pa. (AP) -- Two businessmen have bought the Bestform distribution center in Cambria County and plan to lease it to businesses that they say could bring 100 jobs into the area.
Bestform, a women's undergarment manufacturer, once employed 1,500 hundred workers at four facilities in Cambria and Somerset counties. Now just 60 people work at the company's former distribution center, in Richland Township, which is set to close in June.
New owners Lou Mihalko and Jim Vasilko say Bestform's parent company, VF Intimates of Monroeville, Ala., plans to lease the building until then.
But in the meantime, the two say they are working with manufacturing firms and defense contractors to try to attract as many as four new tenants to the 217,000-square-foot facility.
