Canton Timken, Rayen share city title

Martin led Timken with 27 points as Trojans earn City Series championship.

CANTON -- Jeremi Martin had 27 points and 12 rebounds, leading Canton Timken to a 69-57 victory over The Rayen School on Friday night.

Rayen and Timken will share the City Series championship.

Philbert Lawson added 13 points for the Trojans (5-12, 4-2), who jumped out to a 16-6 lead after one quarter.

Odell Eargle scored 19 points and had eight rebounds for the Tigers (7-9, 4-2), while Deon Elliot added 12 points.

Poland 63, Howland 49

HOWLAND -- Lou Coppola tossed in 20 points to lead Poland in a Metro Athletic Conference game.

Chad Fender added 15 points for the Bulldogs (15-1, 11-0 MAC), who led 40-26 at halftime.

Cameron Marchese scored 10 points for Poland.

Howland (4-12, 1-9) was led by Ryan Johnson, who scored 13 points. Sean Gerin and Jared Bartholomew added 11 points each.

Alliance 69, Struthers 43

STRUTHERS -- Bylynn Hatcher scored 21 points to lead Alliance in a MAC game.

Dominique McLendon added 15 points for the Aviators (11-5, 7-3), who moved into a tie for second place with Canfield. Jermaine Pleasant finished with 11 points.

Struthers (4-12, 1-9) was led by Dave Mathews with 16 points.

Salem 59, Niles 40

SALEM -- Tyler Pierce had 16 points and eight rebounds for Salem in a MAC game.

Jarin Heath added 15 points and six rebounds for the Quakers (7-9, 5-6), while Ryan Benchwick had 12 points and eight rebounds.

Niles (8-9, 4-6) was led by Andrew Cleary, with 17 points, and Bill Frech, with 10. Sean Cleary had five rebounds.

West Branch 52,Akron Springfield 36

BELOIT -- Mike Fugate had 13 points and four assists to lead West Branch in a Northeastern Buckeye Conference game.

Brandon McMillen added 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Warriors (6-11, 5-8), while Marc Carle had 11 points.

Jared Hoffman finished with eight points and five steals for West Branch.
