A GUIDE TO SHARE WEAR
Basic good manners should be involved in giving and receiving hand-me-downs. Following these guidelines, culled from moms who know, will make for a smooth and happy "transaction."
Make sure your hand-me-downs are welcome. It's simple: Just ask if your intended recipient would like hand-me-downs.
Don't pass along anything you wouldn't put on your own child. Clothes should be gently used, without holes or stains.
Make sure the clothing is clean and neatly packed.
If you receive hand-me-downs, make sure you know what the giver would like you to do with the clothes when you're finished with them. Some givers want items returned. Others tell you to pass them along or to donate them to charity.
If the item must be returned, make sure it's clearly labeled with the giver's name. (Returning clothes and remembering who belongs to what is such a pain the moms discourage accepting clothes you must return.)
