DEVELOPMENT Plaza director plans ceremonies to honor new businesses in city
YOUNGSTOWN -- The city's Federal Plaza director and the Office of Economic Development have scheduled two ceremonies next week to celebrate new businesses in the city.
Claire Maluso, plaza director, said there will be a reception from 5 to 6 p.m. Monday at the Phar-Mor Centre Concourse to celebrate the opening of InfoCision Telephone Marketing Experts. A ribbon cutting will be at 6 p.m.
The call center began its operation Tuesday on the fourth floor of the Phar-Mor Centre on West Federal Street.
The company has hired about 200 employees for their downtown operation and the number may increase to about 250 over the next three years.
InfoCision also has call centers in Boardman, Austintown and New Castle, employing just more than 900 workers.
An open house also is scheduled for 2 to 5 p.m. Feb. 8 at Santisi Wholesale Foods, 832 Mahoning Ave., on the city's West Side, Maluso said. A ribbon cutting is set for 3 p.m.
The business is owned by Michael Santisi and provides wholesale food products to various supermarkets throughout the area. She said Santisi also has plans to open a small retail food store.
Maluso said the city wants to take the time to celebrate and commend businesses that have chosen to come to Youngstown.
The ceremonies also fall in line with Mayor George McKelvey's desire to publicly acknowledge the positive events happening in the city.
