Struthers man charged in shooting

YOUNGSTOWN -- Donell J. Rowe, 26, of Grant Street, Struthers, surrendered to police and was arraigned Tuesday in municipal court on charges of attempted murder, illegal possession of a weapon (based on a prior conviction) and illegal possession of a weapon in a liquor establishment.
Judge Robert A. Douglas Jr. set bond at $350,000 and a preliminary hearing for Dec. 2. Police said Rowe and Justin Salata, 27, of Pointview Avenue were arguing near South Heights and Sheridian avenues Saturday, and Rowe shot Salata in the abdomen.
Salata has since been discharged from the hospital.
Rowe made news on April 29, 2003, when he was shot by Martin J. Koliser Jr. outside a Mahoning Avenue bar. Koliser then shot and killed Patrolman Michael T. Hartzell.
Koliser, sentenced to death, committed suicide in prison.
