Published: Wed, August 31, 2005 @ 12:00 a.m.

NEW MIDDLETOWN -- More police officers will be out patrolling the roads today through Labor Day looking for people driving under the influence.

The Mahoning County Operating a Vehicle while Impaired Task Force is spearheading extra patrols that begin at 8 p.m. today and continue until midnight.

Police from Austintown, Youngstown, New Middletown, Goshen, Jackson, Poland and Canfield will be looking for drunken and drugged drivers, and also for speeders and people who aren't wearing seat belts.

Money from grants is funding the extra patrols.
