Youngstown Christian gets first win

The Eagles defeated Lutheran East 14-0.

CUYAHOGA HEIGHTS -- The Youngstown Christian football team shut out Lutheran East 14-0 Saturday for its first victory in the history of the school.

After a scoreless first half, Eddie Gonda caught a 36-yard touchdown pass from Aaron Agresta to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead in the third quarter.

Agresta plunged a yard for a TD in the fourth period. Jared VanArsdale second place kick made it 14-0.

VanArsdale, on defense, had two of the Eagles' four sacks for 28 yards in losses.

Toba Olarewayu rushed for 73 yards on 13 carries for the Eagles and Randy Triplett gained 69 on 12 attempts.

The Eagles rushed 31 times for 187 yards and Agresta completed 4-of-9 passes for 78 yards.

Olarewayu intercepted a pass.

Lutheran East rushed for 113 yards on 30 tries and it was 2-of-11 passing for 24.

Conotton Valley 20,Sebring 7

BOWERSTOWN -- A.J. Tiziani rushed for 97 yards and Ryan Benish ran for 93 yards and touchdowns of 3 and 5 yards to ignite Conotton Valley.

The Trojans cut the deficit to 13-7 in the third quarter when Mike Wheatley ran for a 21-yard touchdown.

Conotton Valley had more first downs (12-5), more rushing yards (244-197) and more total yards (340-239).

Laurel 24,South Side Beaver 20

HOOKSTOWN, Pa. -- Corey Collins and Matt Germanski each ran for two touchdowns as Laurel rallied to win its opener.

South Side Beaver led 6-0 after one quarter and was in front 13-6 at the break.

Laurel trailed 13-12 after three quarters and was behind 20-12 at one point of the final frame.

Collins ran 12 times for 58 yards and touchdowns covering 10 and 2 yards. He also completed 12 of 17 passes for 144 yards.

Germanski rushed six times for 37 yards and scores of 1 and 10 yards.

Western Beaver 28,Shenango 26

INDUSTRY, Pa. -- Western Beaver made a conversion run and two kicks after touchdown to provide the winning margin in the opener for each team.

The winners jumped out to a 13-0 lead in the second quarter but the Wildcats tied the game at 13-all at the break.

Western Beaver led 28-13 entering the final quarter.

Harding 49,Cleveland JFK 22

WARREN -- Dan Herron rushed for 180 yards on 18 carries and scored three touchdowns for the Raiders on Friday.

Sidney Glover gained 162 yards on 11 carries including two scores. He also completed 2 of 12 passes for 32 yards.

For JFK, Demonte Clements threw three touchdown passes to Tyrone Bolden (41, 50 and 27 yards).
