Local musicians sought for Thiel's concert band

Rehearsals are scheduled in preparation for a December concert.
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- The new band director at Thiel College is looking for local musicians to become part of the college concert band.
Jenn Scarem, who has just begun her duties, wants to expand the band membership by inviting volunteer musicians from the community to join.
"I am looking to improve instrumentation within the band," Scarem said. "A versatile instrumentation will enable us to play a wider array of music."
Scarem is seeking volunteer musicians -- from high school pupils to adults -- to participate. Participation in the concert band will not interfere with high school functions, she said.
All wind instruments are welcome, particularly low brass.
Percussionists are also encouraged to participate. Musicians do not need to own instruments.
Rehearsals will be throughout the semester from 6 to 7 p.m. each Tuesday and Thursday in preparation for a Dec. 4 Christmas concert.
An open organizational and informational meeting will be from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the college's William A. Passavant Memorial Center.
For more information about participating in the concert band, contact the performing arts department at (724) 589-2149.
