h'Organizing Bible' helps get things in order

Your organizing problems don't have to involve furs and Ferraris for you to benefit from "The Beverly Hills Organizer's Home Organizing Bible."

The title refers to author Linda Koopersmith, an organizational expert who calls herself the Beverly Hills Organizer. In the book, Koopersmith shares her ideas for putting everything in order.

Koopersmith coaches readers on the basics of getting organized, then presents step-by-step instructions for all sorts of organizing challenges. Tools she frequently uses are pictured or listed in the back of the book.

"The Beverly Hills Organizer's Home Organizing Bible" is published by Fair Winds Press and is priced at $19.95 in softcover.

Customize dinnerwarewith Pfaltzgraff choices

If you're making the dinner, why not make the dinnerware?

Pfaltzgraff has a new customization program that lets you design your own plates, bowls and other pieces using a selection of colors and motifs. Pet dishes, lap and baby quilts, pie plates and place mats are also available.

The choices include traditional motifs as well as the hipper designs found in the "pfz custom" section of the Pfaltzgraff Web site. Personalized messages can be added.

Prices start at $9.99.

Watering while away

Don't ignore potted plants when you go on vacation.

Fertilize them a week before you leave, then make a self-watering system by putting a few unglazed bricks in a large container and adding a few inches of water.

Place the plants on top of the bricks and add a self-watering wick to help the plants draw moisture up.

Plants also can be grouped together so they can "share" humidity, while plants that are too large to place in a watering tray should be mulched with damp newspaper or a damp towel.
